Secondary Chemistry Teacher – GCSE/A-Level/IB

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Chemistry Teacher to deliver engaging, practical lessons to secondary‑school students. You will inspire learners across GCSE, A‑Level and IB programmes, fostering scientific curiosity and a strong safety culture in the laboratory.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver rigorous Chemistry lessons covering core concepts such as atomic structure, bonding, stoichiometry, kinetics, equilibrium, acids and bases, electrochemistry, organic chemistry, thermodynamics and analytical techniques.
• Introduce the scientific method, laboratory safety protocols, experimental design, data collection, error analysis and ethical considerations.
• Use varied instructional strategies—including direct instruction, guided inquiry, laboratory experiments, problem‑solving sessions, peer teaching, flipped learning and digital simulations—to meet diverse learning styles.
• Assess student progress through formative (lab reports, quizzes, practical checklists) and summative assessments (exams, practical endorsements, research projects).
• Prepare students for external examinations, focusing on exam technique, mathematical proficiency and practical components.
• Maintain a safe, well‑organised laboratory, managing chemical inventory and complying with health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Lead enrichment activities such as Science Club, STEM competitions, open lab days and school‑wide science events.
• Uphold safeguarding, child protection and behaviour management policies, and communicate regularly with parents and guardians.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Education or a related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., QTS or equivalent).
• Minimum 2–3 years of full‑time teaching experience at secondary level.
