Senior Private Equity Associate / Director / Managing Director

About the role

SANAM, a regional alternative investment firm founded in 1982 and listed on Boursa Kuwait, invests mainly in real estate, private equity and infrastructure. It is hiring a Senior Associate / Director / Managing Director to join a small team and take part in all aspects of the firm's investment activities. The role works closely with senior management but carries a high degree of autonomy.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and screen new investment opportunities and develop a deal-specific investment thesis
• Research industries and companies, perform valuations and build financial models
• Assist in the financing process and carry out due diligence
• Take part in investment committee meetings and portfolio company board meetings
• Evaluate, formulate and implement value creation strategies for portfolio companies, supported by experienced operating experts

Required profile

• Strong undergraduate record, preferably in finance or accounting; CFA is a plus
• 5 to 10 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, leveraged finance, management consulting, corporate development or transaction services
• Prior experience in transaction execution
• Experience in Kuwait and/or the GCC
• Excellent verbal and written communication, and the ability to handle several tasks under tight deadlines
• Personal maturity, integrity, detail orientation and a passion for learning

Required skills

• Strong financial accounting and modeling skills, including modeling acquisition targets
• Corporate finance knowledge such as valuation and risk/return dynamics
• Ability to turn data into insights and to work with C-level executives at portfolio companies
