Senior Risk Manager

Job description
About the role
We are looking for a hands‑on Senior Risk Manager to build Tabby’s risk capabilities in Kuwait. You will be responsible for establishing the enterprise and credit risk framework, governance and reporting needed for the market launch and for overseeing risk as the portfolio grows.
Key responsibilities
- Design and maintain a local risk management framework covering enterprise and credit risk, aligned with Group standards and Kuwaiti regulations.
- Develop the risk strategy, appetite statement, policies, limits, governance forums and management reporting for launch and ongoing operations.
- Own the enterprise risk process, including risk identification, assessment, risk register, KRIs, emerging‑risk reviews and remediation tracking.
- Provide independent risk challenges on new products, partnerships, customer journeys and operating models.
- Lead credit risk oversight across the customer lifecycle – underwriting, credit limits, affordability, collections and portfolio quality.
- Partner with Group Risk and Product teams to calibrate credit strategies and assess model, policy and limit changes.
- Establish early‑warning indicators, thresholds and reporting to support timely, data‑informed decisions.
- Prepare risk assessments, reports and recommendations for local leadership, risk committees, the Board and regulators.
- Support licensing activities, regulatory submissions and act as the primary risk contact for internal audit.
- Promote a practical risk culture and help shape the future Kuwait risk organisation as the business scales.
Required profile
- Strong risk management experience in banking, fintech, consumer lending or payments, with hands‑on exposure to both enterprise and credit risk.
- Proven track record of building or improving risk frameworks, policies, appetite statements, governance structures and reporting.
- Deep understanding of consumer credit risk, underwriting, portfolio monitoring and loss drivers.
- Familiarity with enterprise risk disciplines such as KRIs, incident management, operational resilience and third‑party risk.
- Knowledge of the Kuwaiti regulatory environment and experience engaging with the Central Bank of Kuwait or similar GCC regulators.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Business or related field; professional qualifications (FRM, PRM, CFA) are a plus.
- Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.
