Senior Well Engineer

About the role

The Senior Well Engineer leads well‑engineering activities on oil‑and‑gas projects, designing wells for diverse types and rig operations while mentoring junior engineers. The role combines deep technical expertise with project‑level management and stakeholder coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve Well Proposals, Basis of Design, Well Programs and End‑of‑Well reports.
• Supervise well‑operations procedures such as casing running and cementing.
• Participate in selection and evaluation of service companies, suppliers and equipment.
• Control program costs versus AFE and ensure technical integrity of well operations.
• Lead well performance reviews, well‑control briefings and technology assessments.
• Use InTouch and QUEST for best practices, lessons learned and technical alerts.
• Verify service‑company invoices and deputize for the Project Manager when required.
• Monitor daily time/depth progress, cost/depth performance and NPT trends across rigs.
• Initiate engineering corrective actions and studies to address recurring issues such as wellbore stability, lost circulation and washouts.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in well engineering and drilling operations.
• Proven ability to mentor and supervise junior engineers.
• Strong project‑management and cost‑control skills.
• Excellent communication with clients, internal teams and third‑party vendors.
