Well Engineer – Technical Well Design & Operations

About the role

The Well Engineer provides engineering and operational support for one or more rigs or well sites, delivering optimized technical well designs and ensuring safe, efficient execution of drilling, completion and workover activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver well proposals, basis of designs and well programs (drilling, completion, workover).
• Prepare project budgets, well schedules and end‑of‑well reports.
• Act as Assistant Well Site Leader, providing real‑time technical support during execution.
• Identify continuous‑improvement opportunities and communicate findings.
• Support incident response, recovery and investigation.
• Participate in risk assessments (HARCs) and evaluate service companies, suppliers and equipment.
• Monitor daily operational progress (scope, time, cost, quality) and recommend improvements.
• Perform engineering studies to solve recurring well problems and drive corrective actions.

Required profile

• Proven experience developing and delivering technical well designs.
• Ability to prepare well proposals, basis of designs and comprehensive well programs.
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules and end‑of‑well documentation.
• Capability to provide real‑time support to wellsite operations and assist in incident response.
• Strong analytical mindset for continuous improvement and risk management.
