e-Commerce Director – Marketplace

About the role

This high‑impact leadership position reports to the SVP and is responsible for establishing and scaling a marketplace business from inception in Kuwait.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the long‑term marketplace strategy, building a scalable business from inception to maturity.
• Lead the launch, growth, and optimisation of a best‑in‑class marketplace platform across multiple product categories.
• Build, develop and lead a high‑performing marketplace team, establishing structure, processes and operating models.
• Drive seller acquisition, onboarding and engagement to create a diverse merchant ecosystem.
• Develop cross‑border e‑commerce capabilities and expand partnerships across GCC, APAC, Turkey, Europe and other key markets.
• Own commercial performance including GMV, revenue, profitability and operational KPIs.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in e‑commerce, digital commerce, marketplace platforms or omnichannel retail.
• Proven track record of launching and scaling a marketplace business from the ground up.
• Strong understanding of marketplace economics, seller ecosystems and platform operations.
• Experience leading cross‑border trade and multi‑country e‑commerce expansion.
• Demonstrated success managing large P&Ls and delivering sustainable revenue growth.
