Hourly Paid English Language Teacher (Kuwait)

About the role

Join the British Council in Kuwait as an English Language Teacher, delivering engaging, high‑quality lessons to diverse learners. You will help shape learners' confidence and curiosity while supporting the Council’s mission of building cultural connections through language.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to learner needs across various age groups.
• Monitor learner progress, provide constructive feedback and encourage learner autonomy.
• Stay up‑to‑date with best ELT practices through continuous professional development.
• Support centre activities, assist with marketing initiatives and maintain excellent customer service.
• Complete essential administrative tasks and uphold safeguarding, data protection, equality, diversity, inclusion and health‑and‑safety standards.
• Build strong relationships with students and colleagues to foster cultural exchange.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent.
• Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Certificate TESOL (or equivalent) with at least two years post‑certificate teaching experience (≈1,200 hours).
• High proficiency in English (CEFR C2 or IELTS 8+ in all academic modules).
• Experience teaching the specified age groups (Early Years, Primary, Lower Secondary, Upper Secondary, University/Vocational, Adults) with the indicated minimum teaching hours.
• Legal right to live and work in Kuwait.

• Hourly paid contract.
• Hourly rate of KD 14 for CELTA‑qualified candidates and KD 18 for DELTA‑qualified candidates.
