AI Technician

About the role

The AI Technician provides technical and operational support for AI‑related projects, research clusters, and digital tools within the Research and Grants Office. Working under the Assistant Vice President of Research, the role helps faculty, students, and project teams develop prototypes, prepare data, and deploy AI solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver hands‑on technical assistance for AI research projects, including model setup, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.
• Develop and maintain simple software tools, scripts, automation workflows, and AI‑enabled utilities to support research activities.
• Manage data preparation, cleaning, anonymisation, and storage, ensuring compliance with data‑protection and research‑ethics standards.
• Support the creation and upkeep of dashboards, analytics trackers, and visualization tools for research outputs and grant reporting.
• Provide first‑line technical support and training for faculty, students, and staff using AI tools and research software.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Software Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum three years of experience in technical support, AI projects, software development, or research technology.
• Strong communication, organisational, and teamwork abilities.

Required skills

• Python programming (preferred); familiarity with JavaScript, R, SQL.
• Experience with machine‑learning libraries, APIs, databases, and dashboard tools.
• Version‑control systems such as Git and structured documentation practices.
• Knowledge of data‑privacy, cybersecurity, research‑ethics, and responsible AI practices.
