Barista

About the role

JW Marriott is hiring a full-time, non-management barista in Kuwait City. The role covers preparing coffee and food beverages, handling cash and bank duties, and keeping the work area clean and safe.

Key responsibilities

• Open and close the shift: set up supplies and tools, clean equipment and areas, lock doors.
• Set up, stock and maintain work areas.
• Take orders, record them in the MICROS system, prepare food and coffee, and input orders into the cash register to collect payment.
• Turn on and off appliances such as coffee makers at the right times.
• Clean dishes, utensils, tables and equipment throughout the day, and bus the coffee cart areas.
• Obtain change for expected business, count the bank at the end of the shift, complete cashier reports, resolve discrepancies, drop off receipts and secure the bank.
• Follow company and safety/security policies, report accidents and unsafe conditions, and complete safety training and certifications.
• Welcome guests, anticipate their needs, assist people with disabilities and speak clearly and professionally.
• Maintain a professional appearance, protect confidential information and company assets, and meet quality standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
• No related work experience or supervisory experience required.
• Able to stand, sit or walk for long periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching and climbing stairs.
