Compliance Manager – Financial Crime (AML/CFT) – Kuwait

About the role

The Compliance Manager will lead the Financial Crime (FC) function for FAB Kuwait, ensuring that all AML, CFT, sanctions and anti‑bribery & corruption (ABC) activities comply with local regulations and group policies. You will act as the primary liaison with regulators and internal stakeholders to mitigate compliance risks.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and report AML, CFT, sanctions and ABC activities in line with Kuwait law 106/2013 and related regulations.
• Review red‑flag alerts, conduct investigations, and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to the Kuwait Financial Intelligence Unit.
• Serve as secretary of the Bank Suspicious Transaction Review Committee, organizing meetings and ensuring effective outcomes.
• Act as the point of contact for competent authorities on money‑laundering and terrorist‑financing matters.
• Provide day‑to‑day support to Kuwait staff on AML, CFT and sanctions issues.
• Coordinate with FAB Head‑Office AML, CFT and sanctions units to manage associated risks.
• Prepare and submit periodic management information on customer risk profiles, KYC deferrals, PEP identification and STR filings.
• Manage ABC incidents and ensure timely reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an AML/CFT compliance officer within a banking environment.
• In‑depth knowledge of Kuwait AML, CFT law 106/2013, Central Bank of Kuwait and CMA regulations.
• Familiarity with CRS, FATCA and other regulatory compliance frameworks.
• Ability to liaise effectively with regulators and internal senior management.
