Director - Operations (Kuwait)

About the role

DHL Express Kuwait is looking for a Director of Operations to lead the country's national operations facilities and personnel. The role covers pick-up, delivery, counter services and shipment processing, with responsibility for service, cost and quality standards, operational budgets, customs clearance, security and the road haulage network. It sits under the Country Manager and has four direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Own the service performance and operational cost of the country's operations against defined standards and targets, and drive improvement in performance measures.
• Support sales acquisition and customer maintenance for defined customers and physical channels to grow profitable revenue and improve customer satisfaction.
• Manage customs clearance inbound and outbound to achieve the highest transit time standard, and coordinate with the Regional Hub and Transportation department, sales and third-party contractors to maintain and expand the road haulage network.
• Maintain a fleet of over 200 vehicles at the optimum price and oversee the construction and renovation of new and existing facilities to cope with projected volumes over the next five years.
• Develop and implement the country's quality strategy in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 (EMS) and ISO 18001 (H&S), and manage security country-wide.
• Plan new facility locations and customer touch points, and implement regional and country projects and programmes in ground operations.
• Ensure compliance with regional and country processes, policies, procedures and local regulatory requirements, and monitor performance against service and cost targets.
• Manage the country's facilities, staffing levels, equipment and supplies, and plan infrastructure investments.

Required profile

• Ability to lead a diverse workforce across different cultures, languages and religions, and to manage a team of four direct reports.
• Experience managing operations, facilities, fleets and security at a country level.
