Driver G2 – WFP Kuwait Office

About the role

The World Food Programme (WFP) is recruiting a Driver G2 for its Kuwait Office in Kuwait City, reporting to the Head of Office. The post provides efficient and safe transportation of authorized personnel and commodities, with some basic office administration. The vacancy is open to applicants both inside and outside WFP.

Key responsibilities

• Transport authorized personnel and deliver items or commodities following authorized routes and UN safety and security rules.
• Meet officials and visitors at airports or entry points and help with visa and customs formalities.
• Keep vehicle log books accurate and report daily to the supervisor on mechanical status.
• Keep the assigned vehicle clean, maintained on time and fully equipped with travel authorisations and supplies.
• Follow field delivery rules and report accidents or problems to the supervisor immediately.
• Perform basic office tasks such as filing, photocopying, storing items, mailing and paying office bills.

Required profile

• Secondary school education and formal driver training with a valid licence for the assigned vehicle.
• Two or more years of driving experience, preferably in an international organisation, embassy or UN system, with a safe driving record.
• Experience with vans, trucks and other motorised vehicles; defensive driving is desirable.
• Fluent English and Arabic (level C).
• Must be a Kuwaiti citizen or hold a valid residence and work permit, and live within 100 km of the office or be willing to relocate at own expense.

Required skills

• Knowledge of driving rules, chauffeur protocol, local roads and waterways, and security issues.
• Ability to assess vehicles for mechanical fitness and minor repairs.
• Use of radios, email and telephone; basic first aid.

Selection includes technical and practical assessments, a competency-based interview and language tests, followed by background checks. Applications must be submitted in English.
