Electrical Maintenance Engineer – Power Generation & Substations

About the role

The position is based at the Jurassic Production Facilities 5 (JPF‑5) project in Umm Niqa, North Kuwait. The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will lead pre‑commissioning, commissioning and ongoing maintenance of power generators, substations and associated electrical systems for gas‑turbine and diesel‑generator plants.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare documentation and check‑lists for pre‑commissioning and start‑up of GTG, EDG, substations and distribution networks.
• Commission, test, troubleshoot and maintain all electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, motor‑control centres, UPS and battery systems.
• Develop operating procedures, O&M manuals and system check‑lists for electrical assets.
• Lead a team responsible for operation and maintenance of gas‑turbine and diesel‑generator equipment.
• Integrate SCADA (ESCADA) control systems with field equipment and coordinate with vendors.
• Prepare single‑line, schematic and logic diagrams, cable schedules, hazardous‑area classifications and relay‑coordination settings.
• Manage departmental budget for consumables and spares, and guide subcontractors on work breakdown and scheduling.
• Create method statements, test plans and compile test reports for all electrical installations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (BE/B‑Tech) in Electrical Engineering from a recognised university.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical commissioning, maintenance and project management, preferably in oil & gas or power generation.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with clients, vendors and other engineering disciplines.
• Strong knowledge of hazardous‑area classification and safety standards.
