Energy Economics Specialist Engineer

About the role

The client in Kuwait seeks an Energy Economics Specialist Engineer to support power generation economics, electricity market analysis, and utility regulation for a 12‑month fixed‑term assignment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and analyse Power and Water Purchase Agreements, bulk supply tariffs and commercial arrangements for IWPP/IPP projects.
• Perform economic and financial modelling, tariff analysis, generation cost assessments and electricity/water transaction evaluations.
• Benchmark power plant performance, assess fuel efficiency of combined‑cycle and open‑cycle units, and support GCC electricity exchange and cross‑border power trading activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Economics, Finance or related field; postgraduate qualifications are a plus.
• Strong experience in energy economics, power generation economics and utility regulation, preferably within the Middle East.
• Arab nationals with Middle East experience are preferred; candidates must hold an active Kuwait visa or be eligible for visa processing.

Required skills

• Power and Water Purchase Agreements (PWPAs) and bulk supply tariff expertise.
• Economic and financial modelling, tariff analysis, generation cost structures.
• Knowledge of combined‑cycle/open‑cycle power generation, fuel efficiency evaluation, plant performance benchmarking.
• Experience with GCC electricity exchange, cross‑border trading, interconnector usage and energy settlement mechanisms.
