Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH) Specialist

About the role

V2X is hiring an ESH Specialist to support its WEXMAC program in Kuwait. The specialist monitors and provides technical support to an assigned area of the program, evaluates work sites for compliance with Federal, State and local requirements, and works closely with supervisors, managers and middle management. The position is physically located in Kuwait and the candidate must reside there and be authorized to work in Kuwait.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate work sites and provide technical support to supervisors and managers on corrective actions for compliance deficiencies
• Conduct observations, program evaluations and root cause analysis (RCA)
• Develop and deliver training packages
• Operate monitoring equipment and test physical, chemical and environmental stressors
• Write technical reports and communicate with senior management, area supervisors and regulators
• Implement a standardized, management-system-based ESH program, including risk analysis, resource identification and budgeting, and employee training
• Document and submit monthly performance metrics, perform ESH inspections and run a reward and recognition program
• Submit permit-related documentation (air, hazardous waste, water) and implement hazardous material and hazardous waste programs in industrial areas

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Biology, or a technical certification in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Safety or Environmental Science/Management; one year of related experience may substitute one year of education
• Minimum of three years of experience in environmental compliance, OSHA compliance, ISO experience and hazardous waste management and pollution prevention
• Knowledge of the Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance Document (OEBGD), DoD environmental regulations and US Army safety and environmental regulations, including Federal OSHA and EPA regulations
• Must be able to obtain a host country driver's license
• Military background and training beneficial
• Ability to work independently and in extreme heat (temperatures exceeding 120 F, desert conditions), with medium physical demands and PPE use in some situations

Required skills

• Competence in computer operations, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to instruct small and medium groups
