Field Service Engineer – Protection Systems

About the role

Join a specialist team delivering remote and on‑site services for protection systems in transmission and distribution substations. You will ensure reliable, cost‑effective solutions while upholding safety protocols and industry best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Drive service sales and business development across assigned countries and market segments (utilities, power generation, oil & gas, EPCs, industrial clients).
• Perform relay testing, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting at client substations.
• Supervise installation and commissioning of automation systems, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Train site operators, provide site‑specific manuals and documentation before handover.
• Consult with clients to define needs, produce written procedures for switching, energisation and isolation.
• Coordinate substation technicians and electricians, act as project manager and primary customer contact.
• Lead and assign work to the protection team, ensuring regulatory and safety compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (preferred).
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in protection systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Leadership ability to supervise and guide technical teams.

Required skills

• Knowledge of structured programming and communication protocols for Hitachi Energy relays.
• Experience with relay testing, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting up to 400 kV.
• Familiarity with interlocking and gas‑tripping schemes across voltage levels from 380 V to 400 kV.
• Ability to develop written procedures for switching, energisation and isolation.
