Institutional Research Officer

About the role

American International University (AIU), a private institution in Kuwait founded in 2019, is hiring an Institutional Research Officer for its Office of Quality Assurance & Institutional Effectiveness. The postholder develops and produces statistical and analytical reports for quality assurance and institutional effectiveness practice in higher education, and reports to the Director of the Quality Assurance and Institutional Effectiveness Office.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and validate extracted data to ensure accuracy for data-driven decisions, improvements and regulatory requirements.
• Produce data visualizations such as charts, diagrams, dashboards and narrative analysis for institutional data.
• Develop complex reports and data sets for internal and external reporting and recurring data requests.
• Respond to data and report requests from university units on educational research, trend analysis, student enrollment analysis and similar topics.
• Assist in developing and implementing IE data management tools and applications.
• Advise on research design, survey development and data analysis for assessments.
• Maintain archival research information used for key performance indicators and trend analyses.
• Benchmark and update surveys, coordinate annual data collection and analyse institutional surveys for program reviews, accreditations and regulatory requirements.
• Follow up with academic and non-academic units on action taken reports and close the quality improvement loop.
• Prepare and update annual university publications such as the Fact Book, Fast Facts, manuals, policies and procedures, operational and strategic plans.
• Take part in meetings, committees and professional development activities, and perform other assigned tasks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university (Master's preferred).
• 8-10 years of relevant institutional research experience in higher education.

Required skills

• Knowledge of institutional effectiveness working techniques.
• Experience with statistical programming languages such as SAS and R.
• Research methodology, design, statistics and mathematics.
