Lead Contracts Engineer

About the role

The Lead Contracts Engineer oversees the full contract lifecycle for large oil and gas facilities projects, from bid preparation through post‑award administration. This senior position ensures that all contractual activities align with client procedures and commercial best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare bid invitations, manage bidder queries, develop evaluation programmes and assess bids.
• Negotiate terms, draft recommendation for award, and prepare contract documents for award.
• Conduct kick‑off meetings, coordinate contract submittals, and manage variation orders, claims and close‑out activities.
• Draft Invitation to Tender packages and propose alternative clauses to client contract conditions.
• Collaborate with legal, risk, tax and accounting teams to secure approvals.
• Monitor contract compliance, track financial and risk metrics, and keep the Projects Contracts Manager informed.
• Produce change‑order documentation, client correspondence, and acceptance paperwork.
• Provide business and financial information to clients as delegated by the Project Manager.
• Identify contractual issues, drive resolutions and uphold contract quality standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years of post‑graduation experience.
• At least 5 years in oil and gas projects.
• At least 5 years in a lead or senior contract role.
• Extensive knowledge of contractual terms, conditions and commercial contract law.
