Lead Controls Field Engineer

About the role

The Lead Controls Field Engineer will oversee installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of control systems for gas and steam turbine projects. Working on‑site, you will act as the technical liaison between the client, plant owner and construction teams, ensuring projects meet contractual and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage on‑site controls and instrumentation activities during installation, upgrade or new projects.
• Oversee installation, maintenance, diagnostics and troubleshooting of control platforms such as Mark V, Mark VI, Mark VIE, Cimplicity and HMIs.
• Provide technical direction to customers on OEM packaged products and interpret PLC ladder logic for fault isolation.
• Implement control constant modifications, update software sequencing and configure hardware/software for turbine systems.
• Prepare field service jobs, coordinate with project/service managers and deliver customer training.
• Supervise cable laying, megger testing and connections, and ensure accurate timesheets with customer signatures.
• Produce internal and external progress reports, attend technical meetings and guarantee compliance with EHS guidelines.
• Travel frequently (75%+), including offshore and restricted locations, and work holidays, weekends or overtime as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in controls engineering, preferably in power generation or turbine environments.
• Proven ability to lead field teams and manage complex technical projects.

Required skills

• Experience with Mark V, Mark VI, Mark VIE control platforms.
• Proficiency in Cimplicity and HMI configuration.
• Strong knowledge of PLC ladder logic and software sequencing.
• Hands‑on expertise in gas and steam turbine control hardware/software.
• Ability to troubleshoot and modify control constants and system diagnostics.
• Competence in cable laying, megger testing and field documentation.
