Lead HSE Engineer

About the role

KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group is seeking a Lead HSE Engineer to support the Health, Safety and Environment function on the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) PMC project in Kuwait. The role will ensure compliance with KOC safety policies, local legislation and international standards while driving HSE performance across the project.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and advise EPC contractors on their HSE Management Systems to ensure consistent compliance.
• Develop, implement and maintain the project‑specific HSE Management System and Risk Management Plan.
• Oversee subcontractor selection processes and ensure they meet KOC expectations.
• Maintain statistical HSE data, generate reports and highlight trends for continuous improvement.
• Interpret KOC policies and statutory requirements, providing guidance to EPC management.
• Review and recommend changes to EPC contractors’ Safety Management Systems.
• Foster professional relationships with KOC, regulatory bodies and EPC contractors.
• Conduct regular site visits to verify HSE awareness and implementation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years post‑graduation experience, including at least 8 years in oil & gas.
• At least 5 years in a Lead HSE Engineer role.
• Hands‑on experience with design, construction, commissioning and maintenance of oil/gas installations.
• Proven experience with HSE management systems, reporting and audit procedures.
• Strong knowledge of local Kuwaiti and international safety standards.
• Two or more recognised HSE certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor, ICertOSH, ASSE Global Safety Management).
