Manager Safety and Standards – Kuwait

About the role

The Manager Safety and Standards will support the Deputy Director SSQE in delivering contracted services in Kuwait, ensuring compliance with the Integrated Management System (IMS) and meeting safety objectives. This senior position is part of the on‑site NATS management team and focuses on maintaining the highest safety standards across aviation operations.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and oversee Safety Management System (SMS) processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and manage risk management processes, including hazard identification, risk registers, and mitigation strategies.
• Escalate safety issues to the Deputy Director and ensure timely resolution.
• Prepare and maintain safety performance indicators, hazard logs, and change‑management documentation.
• Lead safety audits, inspections, and compliance activities for contracted suppliers.
• Monitor legislative changes and assess their impact on operational safety.
• Promote a positive safety culture through education, awareness programs, and confidential reporting schemes.
• Provide safety training to air navigation service personnel.

Required profile

• Proven experience in aviation safety management or a related safety‑critical environment.
• Strong understanding of ICAO safety standards, including Annex 19 and Doc 9859.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary on‑site team.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting safety matters to stakeholders.
