Operations Data Systems Specialist

About the role

General Dynamics Land Systems is looking for a mid-level Manufacturing Data Systems Specialist in Kuwait to design, develop and support data-driven solutions for its manufacturing operations. The role combines software development, SQL and database expertise, data analysis and manufacturing process flow design, working closely with manufacturing, quality and IT to improve throughput, quality and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain production software tools and scripts (data collection, dashboards, work instructions, traceability tools), fix bugs and automate repetitive tasks.
• Design and maintain relational databases, including schemas, tables, views, stored procedures and indexes, and monitor performance, integrity and security with IT.
• Write complex SQL queries, build recurring and ad-hoc reports and dashboards, and perform root-cause and trend analysis.
• Develop and document manufacturing process flows, routings and operation sequences, and turn process requirements into system logic such as routing rules and validation rules.
• Work with manufacturing specialists, production supervisors, quality and IT, and provide user training, documentation and support.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Industrial/Manufacturing, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in software development, data analysis or manufacturing systems; manufacturing or industrial experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to work independently with limited guidance and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• At least one programming language such as C#, Python or Java.
• Strong SQL, including joins, subqueries, stored procedures and basic performance tuning.
• Relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle or MySQL.
• Understanding of manufacturing concepts such as routings, BOMs, work centers, takt time and standard work.
• Familiarity with version control (e.g. Git) and software development practices.
• Preferred: MES/ERP experience, discrete manufacturing background, Lean/Six Sigma exposure, ETL or API knowledge.
