Principal Process Engineer – Lead Design Engineer

About the role

Worley is seeking a Principal Process Engineer to lead design engineering activities on complex oil & gas, refinery or petrochemical projects in the Middle East. The role ensures process design integrity while supervising a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engineering work within time, budget and quality constraints, meeting project objectives.
• Supervise process engineers, designers and technical staff throughout project execution.
• Guarantee compliance with applicable codes, standards and contract specifications.
• Manage discipline resource requirements and produce design estimates.
• Prepare, review and check design documents, drawings and cost, schedule and resource estimates.
• Lead technical execution and completion of assigned engineering tasks.
• Support project engineers in preparing contract inputs, design criteria, scope of work and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (accredited).
• Minimum 15 years of total experience post‑graduate studies.
• At least 10 years in oil & gas, refinery or petrochemical industry.
• Minimum 5 years as a Lead Design Engineer or equivalent.
• Experience working in a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) environment.
• Demonstrated experience on Middle East projects.
• Background working with contractors or comparable delivery models.

Required skills

• Production and approval of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Equipment Flow Diagrams (EFDs), Mass & Energy Balances (MSDs), Cause‑and‑Effect Diagrams and Data Sheets.
• Performing calculations, system modelling and simulation.
• Use of company management systems and adherence to quality‑assurance procedures.
• Compliance with local, client and international standards.
• Knowledge of safety and OH&S procedures.
