Procurement Manager – Steel Fabrication & Manufacturing

About the role

Al Mulla Industries is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead end‑to‑end procurement and materials management for its steel fabrication, refrigerated body, and heavy‑engineering operations. The role ensures timely material availability, cost optimisation, and strong supplier relationships to support production and project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, procure and control raw materials, consumables and bought‑out items for transport solutions, static equipment and refrigerated bodies.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels, monitor stock accuracy and minimise excess, shortages and waste.
• Coordinate material planning with Production, Engineering, QA/QC, Projects and Stores.
• Develop and strengthen supplier and subcontractor relationships, negotiate pricing, payment terms and delivery schedules.
• Lead vendor development initiatives, identify alternate sources and support localisation where feasible.
• Implement Lean practices in procurement and stores to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Analyse consumption trends, inventory ageing and procurement KPIs to support cost‑control decisions.
• Ensure proper storage, traceability and handling of materials in line with quality, safety and company standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 15‑20 years of procurement, supply‑chain and materials‑management experience in steel fabrication, heavy engineering or related manufacturing sectors.
• Proven track record in vendor development, negotiation and supplier performance management.
• Ability to plan material requirements against production schedules and project timelines.
• Strong analytical, communication and coordination skills across internal departments and external suppliers.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems and inventory‑control tools.
• Knowledge of Lean principles applied to supply‑chain processes.
• Familiarity with ISO standards, audit compliance and warehouse handling practices.
