Roustabout

About the role

The Roustabout provides essential support on an oil and gas drilling rig, handling lifting, rigging, housekeeping and equipment maintenance tasks to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist crane and forklift operators by hooking loads, acting as a banksman, and supporting loading/unloading of drilling materials.
• Prepare for rig moves as directed by the Driller, including equipment checks and positioning.
• Support drilling and work‑over activities such as mixing drilling mud chemicals, cleaning mud pits, and handling tubulars and drilling tools.
• Maintain lifting equipment, ensure proper storage, inspect thread protectors, and keep materials ready for use.
• Perform housekeeping duties, keep work areas clean, dispose of waste according to hazardous material policies, and prepare surfaces for painting.
• Assist other rig departments, including the drilling crew, welders and maintenance team, as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or technical degree.
• Preferably at least 1 year of experience in a similar oil and gas environment.
• Age between 20 and 27 years.
• Elementary level of English and basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Ability to climb stairs or ladders frequently and lift heavy loads.
