Senior Advisor - Internal Audit

About the role

KPMG Kuwait, which has operated in the country for more than two decades through its member firms KPMG Al-Qenae & Partners and KPMG Advisory W.L.L., is hiring a Senior Advisor for its Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance services department. The role covers risk and controls matrices, risk assessments, audit procedures and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Independently develop Risk and Controls Matrices (RCMs) covering various business areas and support functions.
• Define the scope of work and internal audit procedures.
• Perform risk assessments by understanding and documenting business processes, identifying risks and controls, evaluating them and finding control deficiencies or improvement opportunities.
• Evaluate control effectiveness through transaction testing and perform substantive audit procedures.
• Identify weaknesses in governance, risk management and controls processes.
• Review the work of junior team members to ensure quality.
• Draft internal audit reports on findings, implications and recommendations.
• Assist in developing Enterprise Risk Management practices, including a risk management framework, risk ranking criteria, risk responses and controls, quantifying risk exposures, identifying Key Risk Indicators and managing oversight.

Required profile

• Minimum degree in Accounting or equivalent (CIA, CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA); a Risk Management certification is an added advantage.
• 3-4 years of professional internal audit, Enterprise Risk Management and/or Risk Assurance experience, with at least 2 years in a senior capacity.
• Bilingual in English and Arabic is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, applying conceptual frameworks to new situations.
• Good understanding of regulatory requirements (Labor Law, CMA regulations, CBK regulations, Company Law).
• Effective verbal and written communication, with a stakeholder-focused approach.
• Time management and ability to handle competing priorities.
