Shariah Advisor – Investment Products

About the role

The Shariah Advisor will provide specialist consulting and technical advisory services to help convert conventional investment activities, products and processes into Shariah‑compliant structures. The role covers the full conversion lifecycle, from initial assessment and gap analysis to implementation, readiness testing and post‑conversion review, ensuring alignment with Islamic finance standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assess existing investment products, contracts, policies, procedures, systems and governance arrangements from a Shariah perspective.
• Conduct Shariah gap assessments, identify non‑compliant elements and propose restructuring, amendment, purification or replacement measures.
• Develop conversion roadmaps, target operating models, governance frameworks, policies, procedures and compliance controls.
• Review and redesign investment portfolios, funds, money‑market products and financing arrangements, recommending suitable Islamic finance alternatives.
• Advise on regulatory, legal, accounting, operational and technology implications of conversion programmes, including the role of the Shariah Supervisory Board.
• Prepare detailed reports, technical memoranda, product reviews and readiness assessments for clients and regulators.
• Deliver training and awareness sessions to boards, senior management and staff on Shariah‑compliant conversion requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Shariah, Islamic Studies, Islamic Finance, Law, Economics or a related discipline.
• Post‑graduate qualification in Islamic finance or related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in Shariah advisory, Islamic finance product structuring or compliance within investment or financial institutions.
• Strong understanding of Islamic jurisprudence, Shariah standards and regulatory frameworks governing Islamic finance.
