Simulator Pilot Instructor – C-130J

About the role

The Simulator Pilot Instructor provides expert training and assessment for C-130J pilot qualification, upgrade, and currency courses. Reporting to the C-130J Lead Instructor, the role supports both classroom and simulator environments while ensuring aviation safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, deliver, and assess training material for C-130J Initial Qualification and upgrade courses.
• Maintain and evaluate simulator training devices and related documentation.
• Collaborate with CAE instructional staff and the 37SQN to align training objectives.
• Contribute to Aviation Safety Management reporting for the training platform.
• Support internal CAE initiatives as directed by the Lead Instructor.

Required profile

• Authorized by the Commanding Officer of RAAF Central Flying School as a competent Simulator Pilot Instructor.
• Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years as a Military Qualified Flying Instructor or Operational Flying Instructor, or at least 1,000 command hours on multi‑engine tactical transport aircraft (C‑27J, C‑130J or similar).
• Completed or able to complete ground training segments of the C‑130J Pilot Conversion Course.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility for an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
