Well Control Technician

About the role

The Well Control Technician will supervise workshop and field activities related to the inspection, repair, testing, certification, troubleshooting and commissioning of well control equipment on on‑shore drilling rigs in Kuwait. The role ensures compliance with API Q1, API Q2, OEM standards and client‑specific CAT III/CAT IV requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise workshop operations for inspection, repair, assembly, pressure testing and certification of well control equipment.
• Provide field troubleshooting, breakdown support and technical assistance at rig sites.
• Order OEM spares for CAT III/IV inspections and coordinate with procurement.
• Lead installation, commissioning, testing and hand‑over of well control systems.
• Coordinate NDT, third‑party inspections, pressure testing and certifications.
• Maintain documentation, traceability and equipment release control.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Support API/client audits and close non‑conformities (CAPA).
• Promote HSE compliance and safe work practices.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years experience in well control equipment maintenance and repair.
• At least 5 years with a top BOP well‑control company (e.g., NOV, Cameron, SLB, Halliburton, Weatherford).
• Demonstrated leadership, professionalism and problem‑solving abilities.
