Civil Engineering Faculty (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor)

About the role

The School of Engineering and Computing at American International University in Kuwait is hiring a full-time faculty member in Civil Engineering at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level, depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will teach undergraduates, maintain an active research profile and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, student-centred and multicultural academic environment. Employment is expected to start in the Spring Semester 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate Civil Engineering courses with a strong focus on practical, industry-based learning.
• Integrate real-world engineering practices, construction projects, case studies, standards and codes into teaching.
• Support teaching in areas such as structures, construction, geotechnical engineering, transportation, water resources and environmental engineering.
• Maintain strong industry connections and stay current with new technologies, construction practices and Civil Engineering trends.
• Contribute to curriculum development, student mentorship, research and institutional service.

Required profile

• PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• At least 5 years of university-level teaching experience, with demonstrated excellence in teaching and student engagement.
• Strong knowledge of current Civil Engineering practices, standards and technologies.
• Ability to connect classroom teaching with real-world engineering and construction practice.
• Excellent communication, mentoring, teamwork and organisational skills in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with relevant engineering software, digital tools, BIM, simulation or analytical tools.
• Preferred: ability to integrate diverse cultural and ethical perspectives into the curriculum and foster an inclusive academic environment.
