Commis 1 - Banquet Kitchen

About the role

Jumeirah Messilah Beach, a luxury beachfront resort in Kuwait run by Dubai Holding, is hiring a Commis 1 for its Banquet Kitchen. The role supports the culinary team and the banquet kitchen operations, working within a multicultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist colleagues and support culinary teams where needed, building team spirit, credibility, respect, openness and trust.
• Report accidents and sickness immediately to the Chef de Cuisine with clear details.
• Identify potential breakdowns early, request assistance before they happen and relay breakdown information to the Chef de Cuisine so root causes can be found.
• Adhere to company policies on safety procedures, food hygiene and safe food handling, and to culinary standards for recipes, preparation and plating.
• Liaise with the Stewarding Manager to maintain cleanliness of machinery, equipment, floors and fridges, and keep equipment in good condition.
• Follow all control and key procedures, set-up times and meal-period schedules.
• Order, receive and store quality ingredients correctly using FIFO rotation, and prepare them according to recipes and plating guides while minimising waste.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of culinary experience in a five-star hotel.
• Solid international culinary experience.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the style of cuisine.
• HACCP knowledge.
• General health and safety awareness in the workplace.
