Consultant - Heavy Oil Operation and Production

About the role

Anton, a global integrated oil and gas value-added management services company headquartered in Dubai, is hiring a Consultant for Heavy Oil in its On-sync Energy Management Services Company in Kuwait. The role provides expert technical advice on heavy oil production operations, equipment and surface facilities, and supports operational assurance, performance improvement and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess and resolve complex operational and technical challenges affecting safe, reliable and efficient heavy oil production.
• Lead troubleshooting, technical assessments and root-cause analyses, and develop mitigation plans with multidisciplinary teams.
• Review operating practices, production performance and equipment reliability to find improvement opportunities.
• Recommend initiatives to optimise production, reliability, energy efficiency and operating costs, and provide technical assurance for changes and improvements.
• Support operating procedures, technical guidelines, risk assessments and lessons learned, and monitor KPIs to advise management on risks and gaps.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, HSE, Process Safety, Inspection and Corrosion teams.
• Review chemical usage and handling, and evaluate new technologies, digital tools and data-driven solutions.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, recommendations, action plans and management briefings, and mentor less experienced personnel.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field; Master's preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of oil and gas experience, including significant heavy oil production, operations, surface facilities and production optimisation.
• Minimum 5 years in a senior technical, specialist, advisory or consultant role.
• Proven experience in troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, operational assurance, performance improvement and risk mitigation.
• Strong knowledge of HSE requirements, risk assessment and permit-to-work systems; strong written and spoken English, Arabic an advantage.
• Training in Root Cause Analysis, HAZOP/HAZID, process safety, reliability engineering or similar is preferred; professional engineering registration is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools such as MS Project; familiarity with enterprise asset management and production reporting systems is an advantage.
• Analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
