Director of Centre for Teaching & Learning

About the role

The Director of the Centre for Teaching & Learning (CTL) will lead AIU’s newly created hub for teaching excellence, faculty development and learning innovation. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the role shapes the university’s strategic foundation for research, accreditation, student success and employability.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a comprehensive faculty development programme, including induction, coaching, peer observation and scholarship of teaching and learning.
• Drive learning innovation and digital education by overseeing instructional design, educational technology integration and evidence‑based pedagogy for all courses and modalities.
• Manage assessment, accreditation and institutional evidence, maintaining the CTL Knowledge Repository, SLO data, faculty participation records and the annual Teaching & Learning Impact Report.
• Build partnerships, culture and reputation for the CTL across all five schools and the Foundation Programme.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership, aligning CTL activities with the university’s RISE Strategy 2026‑2030.

Required profile

• Proven senior academic leadership experience in higher‑education teaching and learning centres.
• Track record of developing and delivering faculty development and instructional design initiatives.
• Deep understanding of accreditation requirements and evidence‑based assessment practices.
• Strong collaborative skills to work with faculty, administrators and external partners.
• Commitment to fostering a culture of teaching excellence and continuous improvement.
