Full Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor of Humanities

About the role

The School of Arts and Sciences at American International University in Kuwait is recruiting a Full Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor of Humanities. The post reports to the Dean of the School and focuses on delivering high-quality instruction in the humanities, fostering critical thinking and intellectual inquiry, and contributing to the academic development of the programme. The successful candidate will show strong teaching experience, subject-matter expertise and a commitment to research and student success.

Key responsibilities

• Teach introductory and upper-level Political Science courses, such as Comparative Politics, International Relations and Political Theory
• Teach at least one additional Humanities course, such as History, Ethics, Philosophy or World Cultures
• Deliver student-centred instruction aligned with general education learning outcomes
• Contribute to curriculum development, academic advising and student mentorship
• Take part in institutional service, including department meetings, committees and campus initiatives
• Engage in scholarly or professional activities related to their field

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Political Science, Government or a closely related Humanities field
• At least 3 years of university-level teaching experience (preferred)
• Ability to teach across multiple Humanities disciplines
• Experience teaching diverse student populations, including English language learners
• Cultural adaptability and enthusiasm for an international academic setting; familiarity with American-style higher education is a plus
