Interior Design Faculty (Full/Associate/Assistant Professor)

About the role

The School of Architecture and Design at American International University in Kuwait is hiring a full-time faculty member in Interior Design at the rank of Full Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor, depending on qualifications and experience. The post reports to the Dean of the School and involves undergraduate teaching, curriculum development, student mentorship, accreditation work and institutional service.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver studio and lecture courses in residential, commercial and furniture design, integrating CAD, BIM (Revit), 3D modelling and digital fabrication.
• Update course content to reflect industry standards, professional competencies and accreditation requirements such as CIDA.
• Guide students in capstone projects, portfolio development and studio critique.
• Maintain an active research agenda or professional practice, publish in peer-reviewed journals or present at conferences, and seek external funding.
• Take part in departmental and school committees, accreditation documentation, student recruitment and outreach, and advise and mentor students.

Required profile

• Master of Fine Arts or PhD in Interior Design.
• At least five years of university-level teaching with a strong studio-based record.
• Strong portfolio of professional and/or research-based design work.
• Publications, research or creative practice, and experience in multicultural academic settings.
• Excellent English communication skills and experience supervising senior design projects.

Required skills

• AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), SketchUp, 3D Max, Adobe Creative Cloud and rendering engines such as V-Ray or Lumion.
• CIDA or similar accreditation standards.
• Knowledge of sustainable design practices and relevant industry experience.
