Mechanical Engineering Faculty (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor)

About the role

The School of Engineering and Computing at American International University in Kuwait is hiring a full-time faculty member in Mechanical Engineering at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level, depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will teach undergraduates, maintain an active research profile and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, student-centred and multicultural academic environment. Employment is expected to start in the Spring Semester 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses with a focus on practical, industry-based learning, covering design, manufacturing, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials, mechanics, HVAC and energy systems.
• Integrate industry practices, engineering projects, standards, codes and real-world case studies into teaching.
• Use modern engineering tools and technologies, including AI, CAD, CAM, simulation, automation, robotics and data analysis.
• Support curriculum development, accreditation, assessment and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with faculty and industry on applied research, consulting, innovation and engineering projects.

Required profile

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• At least 5 years of university-level teaching experience with demonstrated excellence in teaching and student engagement.
• Strong knowledge of current Mechanical Engineering practices, standards and technologies.
• Excellent communication, mentoring, teamwork and organisational skills in English.
