Scientific Editor – Sustainable Development (Remote)

About the role

Cactus Communications is seeking a remote Scientific Editor to join its Earth and Environmental Science team. This contract position offers a predictable schedule and the chance to work with cutting‑edge research across a wide range of sustainability topics.

Key responsibilities

• Review and edit manuscripts to improve clarity, coherence, and readability while preserving authors’ intent.
• Ensure subject‑specific terminology, conventions, and scientific arguments are accurate and appropriate for the target audience.
• Enhance presentation of complex research findings to meet publication standards.
• Format manuscripts according to journal guidelines and eliminate unclear or illogical sentences.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in a relevant environmental or earth science discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate scientific content for discipline‑specific accuracy.
• Excellent written English with strong attention to detail.
• Prior experience in scientific editing, peer review, or academic publishing is an advantage.
