Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Egis is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its port and terminal operations team in Kuwait City. You will be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of mechanical systems that keep the port running efficiently and safely.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement mechanical solutions for cranes, conveyors, loading systems and related infrastructure.
• Conduct detailed technical analyses and troubleshoot mechanical equipment to identify issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Oversee maintenance, repair and lifecycle management of all mechanical assets to minimise downtime.
• Lead and supervise a team of mechanical engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and performance feedback.
• Manage capital and maintenance budgets, ensuring cost‑effective allocation while maintaining performance standards.
• Develop and enforce safety protocols and compliance procedures in line with international maritime standards and local regulations.
• Collaborate with operations, procurement and external vendors to optimise equipment performance and manage vendor relationships.
• Utilise CAD software and engineering tools to create technical drawings, specifications and documentation.
• Conduct regular equipment inspections and implement preventive maintenance programmes.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Significant experience in mechanical systems for port or terminal environments.
• Proven leadership experience managing engineers and technicians.
• Strong knowledge of international maritime safety standards and local regulations.
• Experience managing budgets and vendor relationships.
