Computer Science Faculty - Assistant, Associate or Full Professor

About the role

The School of Engineering and Computing at American International University in Kuwait is hiring a full-time faculty member in Computer Science at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level, depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will teach undergraduates, maintain an active research profile and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, student-centred and multicultural academic environment. Employment is expected to start in the Spring Semester 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in Computer Science, including Game Programming, Data Science and Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Software Engineering and emerging technologies.
• Integrate AI, programming tools, industry-standard software and hands-on project-based learning into teaching.
• Supervise and mentor undergraduate research, senior projects, software development projects and capstone activities.
• Develop and continuously improve Computer Science curricula, courses, laboratories and learning outcomes.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or a closely related field.
• At least 5 years of university-level teaching experience with demonstrated excellence in Computer Science education.
• Strong expertise in one or more areas such as AI, machine learning, data science, game programming, software engineering, cybersecurity or computer networks.
• Experience in curriculum development, course assessment, accreditation, laboratory development and continuous program improvement.
• Excellent written and oral English, with strong advising, mentoring and student-engagement abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with relevant programming languages, development environments, data-analysis tools, AI/ML frameworks and industry-standard software.
• Ability to work effectively in diverse and multicultural academic environments.

Preferred: exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, a collaborative approach to teaching and research, the ability to bring diverse cultural and ethical perspectives into the curriculum, and strong organisational skills.
