Dean - School of Business

About the role

The American International University in Kuwait (AIU) is seeking a Dean for its School of Business, which covers Accounting, Finance and Management and offers three bachelor's degrees. The Dean reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and provides strategic, academic and administrative leadership, shaping curricula, fostering faculty development and research, building industry partnerships and guiding the School through accreditation and growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and management of the School, including full-time and adjunct faculty, academic programs and administrative operations.
• Lead curriculum development, course scheduling, program assessment and continuous improvement of degree offerings.
• Manage the School's budget, resource allocation and strategic planning.
• Drive faculty recruitment, mentoring, performance review and professional development.
• Promote a culture of research and scholarship and support faculty and student research.
• Maintain and engage the Business Advisory Committee to align programs with industry needs.
• Lead accreditation and quality assurance efforts, including familiarity with American accreditation frameworks and systems such as AACSB.
• Keep the School's website and public communications accurate, and foster industry and community partnerships, internships and experiential learning.
• Represent the School in university leadership meetings and promote student success, retention, progression and graduate employability.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent from a recognized university, with the rank of professor in one of the School's disciplines.
• Proven record of excellence in teaching and research, and distinguished managerial experience in higher education, preferably as a college dean.
• Demonstrated experience in accreditation, assessment, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
• Acumen in human resources, administrative and financial concepts, practices, policies and procedures.
• Experience communicating with universities, professional bodies, associations, unions, companies and other institutions.
• Preferred: experience in American-style or internationally accredited higher education, bi-lingual English and Arabic, and experience launching pioneering projects.
