Cyber Security Analyst

About the role

American International University (AIU), a private institution in Kuwait founded in 2019, is hiring a Cyber Security Analyst in Saad Al Abdullah. The analyst monitors, analyzes and responds to security incidents across enterprise systems and networks, focusing on incident investigation, threat hunting and vulnerability management. The role reports to the Senior Executive Director of IT.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze security events and alerts from multiple platforms to assess scope, severity and impact.
• Perform Level 2 incident analysis, classification and prioritization, and lead incident response (containment, eradication, recovery).
• Investigate root causes of incidents such as phishing, malware, data breaches and unauthorized access, and collect and document forensic evidence.
• Carry out threat hunting to find indicators of compromise and emerging threats, using threat intelligence, behavioral analytics and the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
• Develop and tune detection rules for DLP, email security, endpoint protection and insider threat monitoring, and manage Secure Email Gateway platforms.
• Enforce access controls and security policies, plan penetration tests and run weekly vulnerability assessments.
• Provide network support, run cybersecurity awareness campaigns and organize annual cybersecurity and AI awareness events.
• Maintain incident documentation and escalate high-severity incidents to senior security staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• 2-3 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity operations, SOC or incident response.
• Preferred certifications: CompTIA Security+, Cyware Certified Orchestrate Analyst, Certified ExtraHop Network Security Specialist, Fortinet NSE, and others in incident response, SOC, threat intelligence, penetration testing or SIEM.
