Web Developer & Designer / SEO Specialist

About the role

American International University (AIU) in Kuwait is looking for a Web Developer & Designer / SEO Specialist to own the end-to-end design, development, management and optimisation of its public website and related web platforms. The role combines web development, UI/UX and visual design, content management, SEO, analytics and performance optimisation, and is technology-stack agnostic.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and optimise the university's website and web platforms, including CMS, integrations, APIs, security, performance and troubleshooting.
• Create brand-aligned designs, wireframes and prototypes, and ensure responsive, accessible, secure and cross-browser functionality.
• Manage technical and on-page SEO, content, metadata, URLs, links, images and structured data, and monitor indexing, crawlability, redirects, broken links and Core Web Vitals.
• Manage Google Analytics 4, Search Console and Tag Manager, analyse performance and report findings.
• Lead the transition from a vendor-managed site to an AIU-controlled environment, auditing content, functionality, integrations and analytics, migrating or rebuilding components, preserving URLs and SEO value, and setting up redirects.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, IT, web development, digital media, design or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in website development, web design, SEO or management of production websites.
• Strong portfolio showing professional web design/UI/UX and production website development.
• Demonstrated practical experience managing SEO and website analytics for public-facing sites.
• Relevant certifications in web development, UI/UX, SEO, analytics, CMS or cloud technologies are an advantage.

Required skills

• HTML, CSS, JavaScript, databases, APIs and responsive web technologies.
• Technical SEO, on-page SEO, keyword research and search performance.
• Google Analytics, Google Search Console and Google Tag Manager.
• CMS platforms and/or custom website development.
• Preferred: WordPress, migration of a large public site from a vendor, AWS/Azure, DNS, SSL/TLS, CDN, Git and SEO tools such as Semrush, Ahrefs or Moz.
